The best of New York's Broadway comes to Prague's Vinohrady Theater!

The JP & People Art Agency is pleased to announce that a new concert show “Today on Broadway” will premiere at Prague's Vinohrady Theater on Sunday, 29th March 2020 at 8 pm. During one concert evening, the audience will be guided through Broadway New York and the melodies from the world's most popular musicals performed by JP & People soloists. Tickets are available from Friday, 20th December 2019 at Ticketmaster and the Vinohrady Theater box office.

After this year's successful introduction of the concert “The Greatest Show”, which has been greatly received by the audience at the Hybernia Theater, Jiří Peter and his team have come up with another concert project. “Today on Broadway” is a tribute to New York's famous theatrical street in an authentic interpretation by Czech artists. The street tour begins with the biggest of all musicals, Les Misérables and Jesus Christ Superstar. It continues through Disney classics such as Tarzan, The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. Contemporary work is presented by Dear Evan Hansen by Pasek & Paul, the current number one on Broadway in New York and London’s West End.

Andrea Holá, Iva Marešová, Martin Šemík, Filip Antonio and Michal Skořepa will all appear on stage. More names will be announced soon. All of the songs, some of which are Grammy and Tony Award winners, will be performed in upbeat arrangements in their original English versions accompanied by Tokhi & The Groove Army drum group. Tokhi and Aleš Háva are responsible for musical direction. Jiří Peter is the director of the whole evening as well as the scriptwriter, along with Hanka Hošková. Singing coaching is provided by Iva Marešová, choreography is by Ivana Hannichová and Pavel Svoboda is in charge of scenography.

Jiří Peter said about the new project:

“The idea of “Today on Broadway” was originally conceived by my desire to honor the most iconic musical theater songs of all time through my own production and interpretation. I started talking to my colleagues about it, and we assembled a remarkable group of people with a shared passion, to pay tribute to the musicals themselves, and to say thank you for the unique influence and joy they brought to all of our lives.”

Tickets cost between 850 - 1250 CZK and are available from Friday, 20th December 2019 at Ticketmaster and the Vinohrady Theater box office. The organizer has also prepared two special fan packages. The “Broadway Experience” takes the audience behind the scenes to meet the performers during the rehearsal; and “The Broadway Package” includes souvenirs, such as a program, branded bag, book and baseball cap, and special Collector Tickets made in the US are also available.
